A Tale of Two Movies: Farenheit 9/11 vs. Passion of The Christ - I’ll put a disclaimer here, saying that I have not seen either of these movies.
Blogger “Jeff” has done a wonderful job of assembling quotes from movie reviewers. I’m not going to say there’s a bias, but does anyone else find it extremely odd that whatever a reviewer seemed to hate about The Passion, they loved about Farenheit 9/11.
Hmm.

National CornDog Day - Dang it, how in the world could I have never known about this?

Last night I went out to Supper with about 10 guys from my Sunday School class. After dinner, we were supposed to go and play Lazer-Tag, drive Go-Karts, and try out some batting cages. But a rainy day cancelled those plans.
Instead, we opted to go see DodgeBall.
I can honestly tell you that I have not laughed that hard in a long time. We were sitting behind some teenagers who I don’t think understood over half of the jokes & references. They probably thought of us as crazy old guys who laughed at everything.
It was sooooooooooooo worth it. And even though the last 5 minutes was pretty objectionable, the scene in the closing credits made up for it.
Milkshake, anyone?

36. What is the one thing that you cook that always receives compliments? Fried Turkey, thanks to Coach Z and Jennifer’s Dad.
37. From what news source do you receive the bulk of your news? Online sites. I rarely watch TV news, but if I do, I’m watching ABC 33/40.
38. In the last calendar year, how many people have you told that you love them? 10.
39. Who received your first kiss? I’ll dig back to my childhood here. It was in the first grade, and her name was Tammy. We were sitting in a pile of tires that were stacked up, and some kids dared us to do it. The funny thing to me is that I’m a huge Peanuts fan, because I relate to Charlie Brown so well. Tammy had red-hair. So Chuck kissed the little red-haired girl. ![]()
40. The single most important quality in a mate? Other than their relationship with Jesus Christ? A good sense of Humor. I mean, look at who they’re going to be marrying.
And with that, I’d like to wish an early Happy Anniversary to the lovely Amanda. As of 7-something tomorrow night, we’ll have been married for 11 years. I love you, babe!

They say that change is good for the soul. I’ve had a change of venue for the past few days.
Ooooo, the stories I could tell… ![]()

Today’s Topic - The Gospel Calling. Particularly, Effective Calling vs. Gospel Calling. It was a continuation of last week’s topic, Election & Reprobation (which I unfortunately elected to snooze through).
If you ask me, it was kind of the “Thursday in the week of Vacation Bible School” kind of class. But good, nonetheless.

31. What was one of your favorite games as a child? I played a lot of board games as a child, but none really stands out as my favorite. My favorite game in College, though was a half-made-up game called “Power UNO”. We would play that for hours with our friends.
32. At what age have you looked your best? That’s easy… 32! ![]()
33. One person that never fails to make you laugh? My buddy Wes.
34. What was the first music that you ever bought? That’s tough. I bought a lot of 45s & tapes back in the day. I can easily name the first CD that I bought, though. It was Invisible Touch, by Genesis.
35. If you could change one thing about your family life when you were a child, what would it be? Nothing. I’d just want to go back and live it again, to savor each moment. Getting older has really clarified how much my Mom & Dad sacrificed for my brother and I, and I appreciate it more and more.
What a fitting question for Father’s Day Weekend. Thanks for everything, Dad. I love you.
