For a birthday present, I decided to give Amanda something she rarely gets - a day off. So on Friday, much to her surprise, I arranged for the kids to spend the weekend at my parents’ house. They shuffled off on Friday evening, and she and I went to a new restaurant. We had hoped to make it to a late showing of The Phantom of the Opera, but didn’t.
I spent most of Saturday morning getting some car repairs made, but on Saturday night we enjoyed the other part of her Birthday present: RiverDance. I had threatened to stand up in the middle of the performance, and shout “I AM THE LORD OF THE DANCE!!!”, but thought better of it. I had fully expected to be bored to tears the entire time, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. All of the music had a Celtic flavor to it, and I absolutely loved that aspect of it. Even the dancing wasn’t bad, with the exception of the never-ending flamenco dancer.
Happy Birthday, Babe. I hope you had a good time.

While listening to “We Are The World” today on the 80s channel…
How many of the “Mega-stars” would you still consider to be “Mega-Stars”?

I never knew that there was such a thing as Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper until this morning.
Wow. That’s good stuff.

I ran the same cycle as Monday today. Doing it on one day’s rest instead of three was much more difficult. I think that I also ran a faster pace today.

Earlier this morning, I was forced to contribute yet another two dollars into the Box of Shame. Fortunately, I was not alone, as at least two other running-mates were forced to pony up some cash as well.
This afternoon, however, I did run. Our cycle changed this week, expanding our total running time. After the standard 5 minute warm-up period, we ran for 3 minutes, walked for 90 seconds, ran fot 5 minutes, and then walked for 2 and 1/2 minutes. We then ran that 12 minutes of doom again.
I’m hoping for a major breakthrough this week. If not, next week’s 20 minute running period may just kill me.

I played paintball for the first time on Saturday at PaintBall Quest. Martin’s wife, Shelli, gave him an awesome PaintBall party for his Birthday. We played 6 different courses in 2 hours, and had an absolute blast.

This entry is a day late… I actually missed running one day last week, and much to my chagrin, was the first person to place $2 into the dreaded “Box of Shame”.
Anyways, I skipped over the missed day’s workout and ran the first cycle of week 3: 90 second run, 90 second walk, 3 minute run, and a 3 minute walk. Lather, rinse, repeat.
The running itself wasn’t too bad, but it was cold outside yesterday afternoon. When I got back, the temp. was 31 degrees outside, without any wind chill. What in the world was I thinking?
