Batman

I meant to post this last week, but I forgot. I Netflix-ed Batman Begins last week. I’ve never been a huge fan of the Batman movies, but let me say that it was absolutely the best Batman movie that I’ve ever seen. Good stuff. I highly recommend it.

HELL-apeno remix

Kevin Eats The Jalapeno Remix - It’s a smaller file (only 4MB), and with some background music.

Jalapeno? HELL-apeno!

A few weeks ago, co-worker Kelvin introduced us to an ‘off-the-menu’ item at a local Mexican restaurant - The “chile-toreales” (or something like that - translated, it supposedly means “Hair of the Bull”) is a simple dish - a grilled jalapeno pepper. After watching co-worker Jodey have 2 near-death experiences, and Kelvin break into an sweat the moment it entered his mouth, I tried it myself.

I have never eaten anything hotter, in my life. Period.

Fast-forward to yesterday. One of my co-workers, Scott, bet another one, Kevin, that if he ate one, he’d buy his lunch. Kevin accepted, and I brought my digital camera along for documentation.

Warning: These video files are LARGE. Don’t even try to view them on dial-up.

Video 1 - Before the meal, Kevin was very confident.

Video 2 - Kevin meets the bull.

Go to your local mexican restaurant , and try it for yourself. :)

Link-O-The-Day

Mark and Lisa Downing’s Adoption Story - Mark and Lisa go to Church with us, and play in the Orchestra with Amanda. They are currently in China in the process of adopting 2 adorable baby girls.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

I love the Peanuts and Foxtrot comic strips. This Foxtrot cartoon is, therefore, priceless to me:

Black Friday

The first Black Friday ads have started showing up online.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, Black Friday refers to the day after Thanksgiving, when all of the stores have the super-mega-blow-it-out sales. So why post the ads early, if they’re going to be published to the general public in the Thanksgiving Day paper? Well, let’s assume that a person knew what was going to be on sale, but didn’t necessarily want to get up at the butt-crack of dawn to go stand in line with everyone else. This person could go to the store a few days beforehand, purchase the item that was going to be on sale, and then on Black Friday return it to the store and rebuy it on the spot at a lower price. That way, you get the best price on the item, you’re guaranteed to get the item, and you could actually wake up at a decent time.

You know, theoretically.

A restful Saturday

We’re looking forward to a restful Saturday today. Neither of the boys has a soccer game, and there’s a lot of good football on today (GO VOLS!!).

Evangel’s Fall Festival is this afternoon, so we’ll be going there for a few hours. Unfortunately, it’s during the middle of the Alabama-UT football game. Amanda’s volunteered to work one of the blow-up-bouncy-thingies, so I’ll be going around looking for football scores while she’s busy.

What else is new this week? It looks like we have serious movement on the new-house front, but I’ll save that news for later.
