My Grandmother

Please remember my Grandmother in your prayers. She’s in the hospital, after having a very light stroke. Her blood pressure is extremely elevated, and there is an artery in her neck that is almost completely blocked. That blockage has us all extremely concerned, and there’s a strong possibility that a more powerful stroke is looming.

Update - 12:01PM

I got off the phone with my Mom about an hour ago. They were able to examine the blockages in her neck more closely. It turns out that there is an artery that is only 45% clogged on the left side of her neck, and one that is only 15% closed on the right side. That’s much better than we were expecting to hear. Instead of surgically removing them, the doctors believe that they can be treated medicinally. At this point, her blood pressure is remaining pretty high, and the doctors are working on bringing that down medicinally as well.

That’s about as good of a report as we were hoping to hear. Thanks to all of you for your prayers.

Do You Love Football?

If so, take a look at the standard NCAA head football coach job application. I hear Alabama’s looking for a head coach…

Fear the Sneer.

This just keeps getting better…

I am soooooo tempted to request this album for for Christmas this year…

Thanksgiving

Hope that your families all had a good Thanksgiving time.

We went to Tuscaloosa late Wednesday night. Woke up on Thanksgiving morning, and proceeded to fry a Turkey with my Dad. (Note: This goes much faster *if* you kill the turkey first. If not, he’s hard to keep in the pot). We then took the turkey to a mini-family-reunion of sorts, that my Great-Aunt put together. It was a complete little shindig, complete with entertainment and door prizes. And I actually lucked out and won the grand prize. After that, Amanda, my folks, and I took the boys to see the replica of Columbus’ Nina that was docked in Tuscaloosa. Pretty cool stuff.

On Friday I got up and fried another Turkey (dead from the onset). We spent Friday (or Thanksgiving, part II, as Caleb called it) with Amanda’s family. We spent the day at Diane’s house, and rolled back home last Friday night.

The rest of the weekend’s been spent trying to get the house in order for our Sunday School Christmas party this weekend. I worked outside for the better part of Saturday, getting our Christmas lights put up. The boy’s Christmas tree is up and ready, and our Christmas Tree went up in the living room last night.

Enough of a “holiday”… Now it’s back to our everyday routine: Church, Basketball Practice, Theology Classes, Cub Scouts, Speech, etc… :)

Gooder At Grammar!

Your Language Arts Grade: 100%

Way to go! You know not to trust the MS Grammar Check and you know “no” from “know.” Now, go forth and spread the good word (or at least, the proper use of apostrophes).

Make a Quiz

After reading Laurie’s comment, I went back and took the grammar quiz. Apparently that’s not the class that I slept (or worked crossword puzzles) through.

Do you deserve your high school diploma?

You paid attention during 91% of high school!

85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don’t get scores that high! Good show, old chap!

Compliment

While watching the Iron Bowl on Saturday, Caleb plops down beside me:

C: Wow, Dad, you smell good.
B: Thanks, Buddy.
C: You smell like a swimming pool.

Maybe I should market Eau De Chlorine.

Turkeys

Today, my buddy Jodey and I fried up 4 turkeys for our Thanksgiving lunch at work. We were wearing similar clothes, and I asked Amanda to get a picture.
