Birmingham’s Mountain Brook Inn was demolished today.

It closed several years ago. When I used to work on LakeShore Drive, we would frequent their restaurant. They had one of the absolute best buffets in Birmingham.

Wow, 3 days with no post. You’d think that I dropped off the face of the earth.

Well, I did. I’ve been snowed under at work even more so than usual. I also went to Atlanta on Thursday evening. Spent the day in the office, and then went to watch the Braves take on the Marlins last night (if you watch my Twitter feed, you’ll already be aware of that). Tonight it’s off to see the Barons, and 2 baseball games in the morning. The rest of the weekend will, unfortunately, be work-related, with a major migration coming up.

My mistake. Diane actually had her PIC line put in yesterday, instead of today. All went well. She said that it took about an hours instead of 15 minutes to get it put in, but that everything’s in good shape now. Diane also told me that she weighed after dialysis yesterday, and was up to 110 lbs. Now, a good bit of that is due to the fluids that she received at dialysis, but hopefully she’ll be able to start gaining weight through the TPN.

If you would, please remember Amanda’s Mom in your prayers. She’s still having issues with her weight, and is now less than 100 pounds. She’s simply unable to get any real nourishment from food before it exits her system. She’s going in for surgery tomorrow, to have a PIC line put in place. Once that’s done, she’ll start receiving TPN (basically, food) via that line at home.

Diane’s been pretty sick before, and has fought back. But over the past 2 months Amanda’s basically watched her begin to waste away. It seems that Diane’s starting down the same road that Jim was on shortly before he passed away. Amanda is, understandably, extremely upset about all this. Please keep her in your prayers as well.
